Consultations & Appointments

Free Initial Consultation (information and alternatives)
Schedule an initial free consultation with Doctor Kaplan. At that time, questions will be answered, alternatives discussed, and the appropriate procedure is determined. We will provide you with a written financial quote for your desired procedure and for other options. If surgery is scheduled, we make a second consult appointment for review and detailed planning. We also obtain your permission to send for prior medical records.

Second Consultation (preoperative planning)
You will have a second consultation for a short health history, detailed surgical planning, and further discussion. You can assist us by filling out the medical health form and bringing it with you for your consultation. We will also take preoperative photographs; provide medications, special garments or prescriptions. If necessary we will order appropriate medical tests.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc. Please assist us by providing any X-rays, blood tests, EKG or other tests if applicable. Also provide a list of medications you are presently taking. IMPORTANT: All patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at this consultation. In addition, we will discuss the postoperative care and issues such as driving, return to work and social life.

Post-surgical follow-up appointments.
Some surgeries require a follow-up visit on the day after surgery. Most surgeries require a visit one week after surgery to remove sutures and to assess early results and healing. You also will have one or two scheduled follow-up appointments in the following months to assure that your recovery is proceeding satisfactorily. Postoperative photographs will be taken at this time. If you have any questions, at any time, please feel free to call us at 916-580-9930 to answer your questions or to make an additional appointment.

Communication with your Doctor
If your doctor has referred you, he or she will promptly receive a letter outlining our findings and the course of treatment. We encourage you to return to your referring doctor after our specialized care is complete.
