Pre-surgical Instructions

Weeks before Surgery of any type
The most important requirement is to avoid medications that may cause surgical bleeding, bruising and swelling. The problem medications are aspirin and other non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID)
Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Alleve and other NSAIDs cause the platelets that start the clotting process to malfunction. These must be stopped 2 weeks before surgery!

- The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.
- Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow, and low-heeled shoes.
- Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed before surgery.
- Do not wear lipstick, makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery.
