Thermage is a new office procedure that is used to tighten and lift facial skin. The technology is base on directing radiofrequency energy through the skin to heat the collagen layer. Simultaneously a cooling agent is applied to the skin surface to protect it from damage. Collagen when heated to 160 degrees Fahrenheit will shrink and tighten the deep layer of the skin.
- It has a lesser effect than face lift or brow lift
- The effect of the Thermage tightening is partially noted within a week but most of the improvement takes 2-3 months.
- The duration of benefit has evaluated for two years but the continued benefit beyond that time has not yet been determined.
- This is an office procedure with no downtime and can return to work the next day,
- There are no significant risks and the cost is much less than facial surgery.
