TREATMENT ALTERNATIVES

Muscle wrinkles.

Muscle wrinkles are treated with various methods depending on the location and severity.

Surgery is the only permanent alternative that inactivates the muscle wrinkles. The muscle causing crowsfeet and frown wrinkles can be removed during brow lift, facelift and eyelid surgery. These muscles can be completely or partially removed and do not re-grow.

Botox can be injected into the muscles that cause crowsfeet and frown lines. Botox prevents muscle wrinkles for about 3 months and then must be repeated

Fillers such as Zyderm collagen and Restalyn can be injected into the wrinkle for a temporary improvement of 3- 6 months. Synthetic fillers such as Radiance and Artecoll, or fat injections may have permanent or long-term effect.

Chemical peels, and lasers remove partially help the surface wrinkles and tighten the skin

Thermage, a new non-surgical technology uses radiofrequency energy to tighten the underlying collagen of the skin.

Before & After

Gravitational Folds

These folds caused by the gravitation and heavy loose skin are usually treated with surgical lift procedures. (Thermage and lasers has been used to tighten less severe drooping.)

Drooping of the forehead, eyelids cheeks, jowls and neck are corrected by lifting into a more superior position with the following surgical procedures:

  • Brow lift- forehead and upper eyelid drooping
  • Facelift- cheek, jowls and neck folds
  • Blepharoplasty- upper and lower eyelids
  • Platysmaplasty- neck

Volume Discrepancy

The skin laxity related to loss of tissue volume has been historically treated by reducing the amount of skin with surgical excision as noted above for gravitational folds. Thermage and laser skin tightening are used for early aging with minimal volume loss. Volume can be added with fat injections or facial implants.

  • Tighten the skin with surgical skin reduction (brow lift, facelift, blepharoplasty)
  • Tighten the skin with Thermage or CO2 laser
  • Add volume with fat or other injections
  • Add volume with implants
